Following on from our exciting game of the week, here is a link to the same game, this time analysed by one of the protagonists.

George Hollands (aka Journey2FM) has started a very interesting blog, describing his efforts to reach the FM title. Having known George for many years I have no doubt that he has both the talent, and, more importantly the work ethic to achieve his goal.

It has often been said that the most insightful games annotations come from the players themselves, as they can let the reader know what they were thinking during the game, rather than just a clinical assessment made ‘post mortem’

  1. Rxf7+   Rxf7  2. Nh5+ Kf8  3. Qd8 mate ( All other King moves after Nh5+ result in mate after Qd8

 

Game of the Week

As I mentioned the, indecently short, draw between Magnus Carlsen and Hikaru Nakamura last week it only seems fair to show a very nice game played by the World Champion.

If Carlsen has had problems with any player recently it has been against Wesley So.

As luck would have it they both lost at the semi-final stage last week and had to play each other for 3rd place in the latest Elite event
